Jeremy James Taylor, Founder – The National Youth Music Theatre (London)

Godspell – MT4Uth comes of age.

The early years of growth for any Youth Company are as much an act of faith and risk taken by those who are taking charge of all that raw and hungry young talent which is champing at the bit to get up on stage and perform. It is sensible not to try to run before you can walk, and so all credit should be given to those in charge of MT4Uth who have demonstrated admirable restraint in their patience and common sense over the development of this admirable organisation. The time eventually comes when you have to take your foot off the brake and hit the accelerator and on Sunday 16th August at the Grand Opera House, Belfast, over 1000 people were in attendance to witness the phenomenally exciting moment when the company spread its wings and took off.

The packed house was treated to superlative ensemble work, with incisive and sharp choreography from and a simply outstanding standard of dancing from the entire company; focused and clearly articulated singing and a rich parade of inventive and witty group-acting work in the telling of the parables. All this was performed against a beautiful and telling design and stylish costumes. Sunday 16th August 2009 should stand as a proud day in the history of MT4Uth which will surely go on to greater artistic achievements. Onwards and upwards!!!!

Mark Huffman- Film Producer and Director of Music Theatre 4 Youth (Ireland)

International and excellence provide the  vital ingredient in developing our local talent here in Ireland and showcasing that talent across the world. |Music Theatre 4 Youth are doing this with aplomb.    As a Director of Music Theatre 4 Youth I totally support this wonderful charity in taking their recent highly successful workshop production of “Godspell” to the International Youth |Arts Festival in |the Rose Theatre Kingston Upon Thames in |July 2010.

I would  also like to announce  Generator Films commitment  and contribution to the growth and success of the education and outreach training programme within MT4Uth over the coming years by offering their selected students from across Ireland a chance to get a taster of the film industry  by  providing a percentage of placements within the film industry here in Belfast.

Ben Barnes- Actor 'Killing Bono', 'Chronicles of Narnia'

My early years were spent under  the umbrella of the National Youth Music Theatre which provided me with the training in music theatre, and the education and mentoring which were crucial to developing my career as an actor.

I am pleased to be back here in Ireland and playing an Irish part. I was thrilled to be asked to be Young Peoples Patron for Music Theatre 4 Youth (Ireland) which was founded five years ago to provide young people across the island with the same training from International  Artistic teams here on Irish soil.

I am proud to be associated with  a charity which has already gained a reputation for being the best youth company in Ireland.

Adrian Dorran, Vice Chair - Ulster Association of Youth Drama

I felt the need to put pen to paper (or, more accurately, fingers to keyboard!) in order to congratulate everyone involved in MT4Uth's production of Godspell at the Grand Opera House last night. A friend and I booked tickets on a whim at the last minute (I found myself with a Sunday evening free which is unusual in my profession!) and I am so glad we did!

Almost every summer, I attend some youth theatre events and it is without exaggeration to say that last night was the finest youth musical production I have ever seen – it defies belief that the show was put together in just six days.

All involved in the production should be rightly proud, but in particular the energy, competency and presence of the young people, who filled the stage literally and figuratively, was superb and I hope, if possible, you will pass my congratulations on to them. It is so encouraging to see youth musical theatre of this calibre in Belfast.

Leo JD Callow MBE, Trustee – The Lord’s Taverners

A very big well done last night - I just could not believe what MT4Uth has grown into in such a short time, from when I first saw you rehearsing for a Sunday performance last Summer - amazing. Also what a following of patrons and sponsors you have gathered around your team and all working together, giving young people an opportunity that they simply would not have without you.

Martin Lynch, NI Playwright

Music Theatre 4 Youth aims to provide opportunities for young people from here to be trained in all aspects of musical theatre. On the evidence of Godspell, Music Theatre 4 Youth is implementing its aims with aplomb.

From the split second the 50 young people from all over Ireland bounded onto the stage, I was 100% engaged. Rehearsed inside a mere 6 days this was a production and a half. I remember sitting back for a few seconds half weay through it, literally to catch my breath. I was exhausted watching such energy. Brilliant cast, tight band, terrific choreography, precision directing, amaxing dancing, excellent set and above all the performances of a young groups of people who must surely have the stars of the future among them.

Dan Gordon, NI actor, director and playwright

MT4Uth’s Godspell – what an unbelievable experience! For the first time in their short history MT4Uth took over the Opera House in Belfast and presented what local kids can do when given expert tuition. It was incredible, and I don’t use the word lightly.

Malcolm Dawson, Secretary Armagh Lions Club

Music Theatre 4 Youth is the best training ground for youngsters who wish to make a career on the stage. With top international direction and choreography, the tough but rewarding schedule is the main stepping stone to stardom.

Dominic Tighe, Brit Award Winner - Blake

I know only too well the importance of such organisations. If it wasn't for opportunities similar to what MT4uth offer I wouldn't have had the skill or techniques to have got into Drama School and wouldn't be making a career in the Acting and Music Industry as I am now. Music Theatre 4 Youth is crucial for young people to find a confidence they might not know they had in performance and also a valuable experience that could stand them apart from the rest. These skills do not have to be limited to performance, however, and can be applied to all walks of life.
