Below is some more information about the auditions:
Audition:
The first round of auditions will take the format of a 2 hour workshop – you won’t need to prepare anything in advance, in the 2 hours the artistic team will work on:
1. a section of a musical number (singing)
2. a dance break (dance)
3. a dialogue scene (drama)
The reason we do this is so that all the young people are assessed on an equal footing (with no one having anything prepared in advance), it also enables the artistic team to see how responsive the kids are to what they are being asked to do, how quickly they pick up steps etc and how flexible as performers they are.
After the 2 hour workshop audition session, the team will decide if they need to re-call anyone. We do stress that not everyone will need to be re-called, sometimes the team have already decided if the young person/people are suitable for either Level 2 or 3 of the company (level2 – intermediate training; level3 – advanced training).
Recalls:
If re-called you will need to have 2 contrasting pieces of music prepared (have sheet music for the pianist / musical director and a copy for themselves if required) – it is worth preparing 2 pieces in advance in case you are re-called as it is quite a quick turnaround
Recalls will be held on the 6th and 7th of February – Baby Grand, Grand Opera House Belfast.
What Next:
50 young people will be selected to take part in the Level 2 (Intermediate) training programme and a further 50 for the Level 3 (Advanced) training programme.
If selected the residential projects will take place during holiday times:
Level 2 (11-15 year olds) - £450
Intensive Music Theatre Boot Camp (5-7 April)
Level 2 Production – Annie Get Your Gun (25-28 October)
Level 3 (15-25 year olds) - £750
